The BF Artist Film Festival archive gathers past programmes and screening events, preserving the curatorial themes, participating artists, and partner spaces associated with each edition. It offers a useful point of reference for audiences, artists, and collaborators interested in how the festival has approached moving image work over time.
Entries in the archive trace a range of curatorial concerns, from documentary and narrative forms to animation, collage, video art, and experimental practices that examine space, time, sound, and contemporary media culture. Past editions and related events are presented as a collective record rather than a single linear history.
The archive also reflects the festival’s work beyond its core London screenings, including collaborations with partner organisations and art spaces in other cities and countries. These international connections have brought together artists at different career stages, encouraging exchange between distinct communities and contexts within the moving image arts.
For artists, the archive provides a window into the kinds of programmes and thematic groupings the festival has previously supported. For audiences, it reveals recurring interests and the breadth of work shown, including video, performance, installation, and digitally produced projects that sit between contemporary art and experimental film.
By documenting past editions and screening events, the archive extends the festival’s critical platform beyond a single programme cycle. It supports continuing discussion of artist film, helps contextualise current opportunities for early and mid-career practitioners, and keeps the record open for research, reflection, and future collaboration.
